Andrew Boyle 1976 to 1982
When Andrew Boyle started at St Mary’s in 1976, he was following in the footsteps of his father Kevin, who had attended St Mary’s College in the late 1930s and early 1940s, and his older brothers Michael and Colin.
Andrew admits he was not academically motivated at St Mary’s and, in his words, ‘scraped through.’
His main interest was on the cricket pitch and he was a very useful pace bowler.
After leaving St Mary’s in the summer of 1982, Andrew went to Paddington College to study Travel & Tourism and was subsequently employed by the then RACS Travel, initially in Woolwich and then from its Blackfriars office, where he was appointed Manager.
In 1986, RACS merged with CWS (Co-operative Wholesale Society) to form Co-op Travelcare and Andrew set up its Flightdesk division (special airfares unit).
In 1989 he relocated the business to Manchester and developed it, including creating a new Sports Travel Business which involved delivering travel services for Professional Sports Teams and spectator packages.
Between 1989 and 2005, he was the General Manager for the Flightdesk Division before joining Thomas Cook Sport as Business Development Manager, to set up its Sales and Business Travel Departments and was part of the working party for the London 2012 Olympics for Thomas Cook.
In 2019, he joined Clarity Travel Management to create a new Sports Travel Business.
Andrew said: “I’m fortunate that my love of sport carries over to my daily work and has allowed me to work across a number of sports/sporting events and meet and work with world famous sporting icons.”
Andrew married his wife, Jane, in 1996 with son, Peter, born in 1997 and daughter, Georgina, born in 2004. They live in Cheshire and Andrew, pre-Covid, was a season ticket holder at Manchester United, and is pictured in the manager’s area at Old Trafford.
